my documented chronicles of n=1 experiments and musings of how to stay sane in your brain

#100daydresschallenge

1 dress = 100 days = less decisions taking up brain space

Humans make an average of 35-40K decisions a day. I already have ADHD, along with a plethora of misc health challenges, so by the time I finish selecting a work outfit from my closet in the morning, I have already lost all energy to go anywhere. I am overwhelmed with how I have too many clothes, and things, and my attic is stuffed to the gills, and nothing looks right. I have lost 110lbs, and keep gaining and losing 20lbs of it so I am terrified to throw anything out. Add on top of living in a 100 year old house with closets for a simpler time of 3 outfits and 2 pairs of shoes compounds the issue.

This seemingly basic daily task for me becomes a downward spiral of failures with a hint of analysis paralysis. It could be a random Tuesday and I will not yet picked an outfit let along close to leaving the house yet and I am already contemplating if I need to stay home to fix my whole life in the next 8 hours instead.

In the kindest, most respectful way please shut your trap with suggestions like- just wear black shirts and jeans daily like Steve Jobs (he knew he needed the brain space, that is why he did this, RIP). I have tried minimalism (to more than just the closet), capsule wardrobes, seasonal capsules wardrobes, discarding everything that did not spark joy. I tried setting out outfits for each day of the week every Sunday night.

10+ years later, this is still a problem. This might not be an answer, but who doesn’t like a reset, detox, a cleanse, it is all the rage. I shall rage along with this and maybe learn a thing or two.

I am doing this documenting for me, but if you find this speck of sand in the endless beach made of blogs from the largest body of water on the plant – please do, and I will not apologize for poor grammar, typos, and nonsensical thoughts. I am working with the brain I have at the moment. For whatever reason I hate journaling and this seems to be the alternative that works.

I also need to send in proof of my 100 days of different outfits in the one same dress in exchange for a $100 gift card.

About Me:

Sitting in my car on any given morning before going into work…

I spend more time in a cubicle than the actual real world at the moment. I like to experiment with how to improve my haywire autonomic nervous system against the will of my hormones, improve my emotional EQ, micromeditate, improve heart centered breathing, and use my body as an n=1 experiment to try and make living in this body in this lifetime better. I frequently ponder the small amount of time we have on this planet to sort anything out.

We are stardust.
